Rolling S Quarter Horses is located in
Southeastern Missouri, 120 miles southeast of Springfield. Right in the heart of
Mark Twain National Forest and the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, trailriders'
heaven amidst the beauty of the Ozark hills, pines, and rivers. We
are a small family operation that rides and raises good quality performance and
foundation bred using horses. Rolling S Quarter Horses is owned and operated by
Jerry and Betty Steele. We have been breeding horses for the last 24 years,
although Betty has ridden, shown, and bred horses the last 52 years. Her
exposure began in 1953 at the young age of 3 with her parents raising paint
Shetland Ponies that were so very popular in that day. Her passionate love for
good quality horses continues today.
Our
goal is to foremost produce conformationally correct horses that posses a great
disposition with a willing, trainable attitude, which have performance
bloodlines for athleticism. As an added bonus….COLOR.
Everyone likes to ride a “pretty horse”, so we try to include good looks with
COLOR in our breeding program.
We have
two types of bloodlines that we promote:
The
well known cutting and reining bloodlines of Peppy San Badger, Hollywood Dun It,
Smart Little Lena, Taris Catalyst, Haidas Little Pep, Doc Bar, Son Ofa Doc, Doc
Quixote, Bueno Chex, Genuine Doc, Bob Acre Doc, Mr. San Peppy, Hollywood Jac 86,
Gay Bar King, Smokin Manzana, Cutter Bill, Dry Doc, & Ransom San Bar.
Our
second area of concentration are the roan working bloodlines of such foundation
greats as Blue Valentine, Joe Hancock, Red Man, Gooseberry, Texas Blue Bonnet,
Leo Hancock Hayes, Plenty Try, Plenty Coup, Rip Rip, Mr Roan Hancock, Salty
Roan, Orphan Drift, Driftwood, & Ciderwood.
These
are just to name a few of the horses that are in the pedigrees of our
bloodstock, all of which we have hand picked for our breeding program.
All of
our horses are handled daily even though our days of competing have come and
gone. Which allows us the time to enjoy extended trips traveling with some of
our horses throughout the country appreciating God’s Handiwork and delighting in
nature through trail riding.
